Our Commitment to Children’s Privacy

NeuTrainer is designed to help athletes train smarter, recover better, and understand their bodies. Because we work with athletes of all ages — including children under 13 — we take children’s privacy seriously and comply with the Children’s Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA).

Who This Page is For

This page explains how NeuTrainer handles the accounts and personal information of athletes under the age of 13. If you are a parent or guardian of a young athlete using NeuTrainer, this page is for you.

What Information We Collect from Children Under 13

When a child under 13 creates an athlete account in NeuTrainer, we collect only the information necessary to provide the service:

  • Name the child wants visible to their coach and team, typically first and last name;
  • Date of birth;
  • Sport and team affiliation;
  • Training and wellness check-in data entered by the athlete (body signals, hydration, nutrition logs, session data).

We do not collect a child’s home address, phone number, or school name. We do not allow children under 13 to post publicly or communicate with other users outside of their coach or team.

How We Use This Information

Information collected from athletes under 13 is used only to:

  • Operate and personalize the athlete’s NeuTrainer experience;
  • Allow coaches and authorized team staff to monitor athlete readiness and wellness;
  • Generate training recommendations and progress tracking within the app;
  • Communicate with the parent or guardian account linked to the athlete.

We do not sell, rent, or share a child’s personal information with third parties for marketing or advertising purposes.

Parental Consent

Before an athlete under 13 can use NeuTrainer, we require verifiable parental consent. Here is how that works:

  1. During signup, the athlete enters their date of birth. If they are under 13, the app requires a parent or guardian to complete the registration.
  2. The parent or guardian creates their own NeuTrainer account using Sign in with Apple or a verified email address.
  3. The parent or guardian reviews and accepts our Privacy Policy and Terms of Service on behalf of their child.
  4. The athlete account is linked to the parent account and activated only after consent is confirmed.

We maintain a timestamped record of consent for every child account, including the date, method of consent, and the parent or guardian who provided it.

Parent and Guardian Rights

As the parent or guardian of a child using NeuTrainer, you have the right to:

  • Review the personal information we have collected from your child at any time;
  • Correct any inaccurate information in your child’s account;
  • Delete your child’s account and all associated personal information;
  • Withdraw consent at any time, which will deactivate your child’s account;
  • Refuse further collection of your child’s information while still permitting access to previously collected data where technically feasible.

To exercise any of these rights, contact us at [email protected]. We will respond within 30 days.

How We Protect Children’s Information

NeuTrainer uses industry-standard security practices to protect all user data, including data belonging to children under 13. This includes encrypted data transmission, secure cloud storage, and strict access controls limiting who on our team can view athlete information.

We conduct regular reviews of our data practices to ensure continued compliance with COPPA and applicable state privacy laws.

Coaches and Team Staff

Coaches and authorized team staff can view athlete wellness and readiness data for athletes on their roster. This access is limited to information relevant to the athlete’s training, is entered by the parent and/or athlete, and is controlled by the team coach(es) and/or administrator(s). Parents have real-time access within the app to view a full list of staff members with access to their child’s data.

Changes to This Policy

If we make material changes to how we collect or use information from children under 13, we will notify the parent or guardian on file before those changes take effect and obtain new consent if required.
